Amines, aliphatic

Molecule carrying amine groups with no aromatic rings directly connected to the nitrogen atom

Aliphatic amines are broadly used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, and in many occupational settings (e.g. epoxy curing agents, catalysts in polymer production, coremaking process in foundries, cutting oils in metallurgy). The most common way for the production of aliphatic amine is by hydrogenation of unsaturated N-containing functional groups using hydrogen in the presence of a metal catalyst. The selective hydrogenation process requires a highly active and selective catalyst, as well as precise process control, to achieve high yields of the desired aliphatic amines while minimizing the formation of unwanted by-products.
